Is there any wonder why it is nearly impossible to find a job on an Internet job board? This fact sheet from Monster.com* gives the tale of the tape. 61 million job seekers going after the jobs of 200,000 companies.

If you assume 4 jobs per member company (a big assumption, although elsewhere on Monster claims to have 800,000 jobs available) that works out to roughly 75 job-seekers per open position. For the employer wading through all those resumes is a real pain. The results? Many employers give up after receiving a couple hundred bad resumes and end up hiring someone referred through a network.
